Ernest B. Kotzur, 78, San Antonio, Texas

Ernest Ben Kotzur beloved husband, father, brother and uncle went to his eternal rest on February 13, 2012. He was born July 27, 1933 in Falls City, Texas to Rose and Ben Kotzur. He is preceded in death by his parents, brother, John, sisters, Cecilia Duelm, Pearl Ketchbow, and Leona Vanek, and 2 nephews and 2 nieces. He is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Joyce Giambernardi Kotzur; beloved daughter, Marlene Norman (Dan); one granddaughter, Elizabeth Grace Norman, who called him Popo; sisters, Elizabeth Stout and Helen Kotzur; and numerous nieces and nephews. He graduated from Central Catholic High School, and received his bachelors degree from Texas State University, San Marcos, Texas. He served his country on active duty with the US Navy, for 4 years and 33 years with the US Navy Reserves at Dallas, TX. His Civil Service career, at Kelly AFB, spanned 36 years, where he received many awards and honors. He loved fishing with his father and friends and deer hunting. He survived a major stroke at age 58 and could no longer work or enjoy hunting and fishing but he continued to love the Lord and his family and friends and was a real trooper. He loved travelling and went with his wife to visit their daughter and son-in-law in Switzerland, and travelled with them to Italy, England and Scotland. SERVICES Visitation will begin at 6:00 PM Sunday, February 19, 2012 at Mission Park North. with a rosary to begin at 7:00PM. Mass of the Resurrection will begin at 11:00 AM Monday, February 20, 2012 at St. Gregory The Great Catholic Church, 700 Dewhurst. Burial will take place on Tuesday, February 21, 2012 at 9:00AM at Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery where he will be laid to rest.
