America's best flea markets

16 hrs.

Shoppers from as far as Japan descend on Springfield, Ohio, for its twice-yearly market of 19th-century antiques. But the event isn?t stuck in the past. In 2012, it introduced live music, beer and wine stands, and trend-driven clothing and housewares.?

Slideshow: See America's best flea markets

The effort is paying off in Springfield, where the May 2012 market drew a record-breaking weekend crowd of 21,000 shoppers. Flea markets across America are seeing a similar surge of interest. Some credit goes to the popularity of reality TV series like "Oddities," "American Pickers"?and "Market Warriors,"?which have picked up the "Roadshow"?mantle and are mining the world of secondhand buying, selling, and collecting.?

As a result, a whole new group of travelers is discovering that braving the crowds at America?s liveliest flea markets delivers more than just deals; it?s a chance to get immersed in a local community, to be an archaeologist of the present. Who needs potsherds when you can pick up a piece of North Carolina Pisgah Forest Pottery circa 1940 just a few hours? drive from where it was made??

Meandering through a market also provides fantastic people-watching (and eavesdropping) opportunities. Want some reality of your own? You?re guaranteed to get a different take on a place?s traditions and culture from the dealer at the bluegrass record booth than you would from your hotel?s concierge.?

Fortunately, secondhand markets have never been more varied ? or more vibrant. A new wave of urban flea markets has taken off in Seattle, Chicago, Brooklyn and beyond, bringing together old-fashioned junk-shoppers and a slew of budding entrepreneurs, artists and chefs, who benefit from the real-time, in-the-flesh market research (small-batch raspberry-and-green-peppercorn soda, anyone?).?

Whether they?re brand new or a century old, sprawling outdoor affairs or carefully edited exhibitions, the best flea and antique markets have a few key things in common: variety (in terms of both merchandise and price), accessibility (most are within an hour?s drive of a major city), and some hint of the area?s heritage (handmade quilts and furniture at the Amish-country flea market in Shipshewana, Ind.).?

And of course, that most important element: a little unvarnished reality.?

DO NOT BUY THE ONE PAGE WEBSITES FROM OTHER SELLERS!!! Because...

MobileDeviceTalk.com is way better than others!!!

WHY?

MobileDeviceTalk.com is properly optimized for search engines (Also known as SEO), You can see in my store to fully understand what needs to be done to have a professionally SEO'd website (I've been doing it since 2000). So every time a potential buyer searches for your optimized keywords , the search engines look for those keywords. And MobileDeviceTalk.com constantly adds new articles/videos/photos/comments and the affiliate products which the search engines see these NEW CONTENT and they really love this!

On the other hand, these ONE PAGE websites that you see from other sellers, all they did is just adding a java script and AdSense code on the home page, NOTHING ELSE, and no content at all. Those products and ads CAN NOT be seen by the search engine, thus, the marketing efforts mean nothing. With those one page websites, there is nothing you can do to it, unless you are familiar with HTML programming.

MobileDeviceTalk.com comes with a CONTENT MANAGEMENT SYSTEM which not only automatically adding articles/videos/photos/products but also allows you to write your own very unique content and publish web pages, and then you can connect MobileDeviceTalk.com with your own social network page. All you need to do is just write your own content/pages, focus on building up back links, gradually draw traffic to your site. Also, WeddingProSotre.com seamlessly merge affiliate products with articles/videos/photos, the visitors will see them as the regular blog type of posts, and will likely click and read more detail, that gives you more chance the make a sell.

IN OTHER WORDS, MobileDeviceTalk.com grows by itself!!!

Below is a screen shot of MobileDeviceTalk.com administration area, this is the area that you add your own posts/pages, and set how fast and how often your site publishing new content.

Over time, your site will have thousands of income producing web pages all linked to your website, improving your search engine rankings and page rank. Many sellers state established in their listings, a website is not established until it is indexed by the search engines or already making a profit. This one will be indexed within 2 weeks plus it's already been submitted to the TOP search engines. If you see auctions saying they will submit to millions of search engines this is useless and honestly there is only 3 which will give you 90% of all search traffic, the big 3 as they are referred to are Google, Yahoo and MSN. However we submit to the TOP 40 to grab the other 10%. Read this entire auction ad to learn why our marketing guide is the best and how it quickly helps you to promote your site for top results.

This is an amazing opportunity for people who like to work at home or just need a second income. You may wonder with so many websites out there, how should I market MobileDeviceTalk.com? The fact is that great NICHE sites Can Make A Good Income! Niche websites are all the rage online, and for good reason! They are laser targeted to a specific audience and millions of dollars are being made in niche markets all over the Internet.

A Further Explain on WHY OWNING A NICHE WEB SITE?

Shouldn't a website target everybody? Do they have the potential to make just as much profit as a niche site? Please read my explanation below:

A niche community is a highly targeted website and focuses on a profitable market sector. A professionally themed design, that's easy to navigate, plus FAST loading clean HTML coding for building and retaining a great community.

A niche market is addressing a need for products that is NOT being addressed by mainstream providers like Google, Yahoo, MSN, etc?). A niche market may be thought of as a narrowly defined group of potential customers.

MobileDeviceTalk.com is optimized to be profitable because of the disinterest of large businesses. The key to capitalizing on a website is to find and develop a market niche that has customers who are easily accessible.

Why did I chose the MOBILE DEVICES Niche?
MOBILE DEVICES is the future of the computer industry. In case you haven?t heard, all the global software companies are pushing their own MOBILE DEVICES platforms, and then connect them to cloud computing services. Apple just launched iCloud, Microsoft started their Cloud services with a huge Cloud vs. Claude ad campaign, Google already offers many cloud service and Amazon just lunched their cloud drive service.

What is MOBILE DEVICES? ?All the gadgets that you see now a day, like smart phones, iPhones, iPad, iPod Touch, laptops, notebooks, net books are all MOBILE DEVICES.

Why MOBILE DEVICES? As mentioned before, everything about this website is highly researched, including the keyword niche.
Companies who advertise for this keyword and the related keywords to this niche pay over $22 per click! Meaning you can expect up to $11 every time someone clicks on your Ads.?
Apart from Google Adsense, the website is also setup for CPA offers from Clickbank, can be added with a click of a mouse button, for which you can earn between $20-$60 per Lead!

How do you make your own content for MobileDeviceTalk.com?
MobileDeviceTalk.com web interface administration is so easy to use that YOU DO NOT ANY HTML SKILLS to add your very own unique articles/pages. It also publishes content automatically.

Do I need to carry any inventory?
You do not need to carry any inventory, unless you wish to or find a wholesaler to buy some of the most popular products from and make even higher profits, as it is now you will make up to 15% of all products sold. We do not recommend using or buying from a wholesaler/drop shipper until you fully understand this market and the most popular products to carry.

(AP) ? A Border Patrol agent was shot to death Tuesday in Arizona near the U.S.-Mexico line, the first fatal shooting of an agent since a deadly 2010 firefight with Mexican bandits that spawned congressional probes of a botched government gun-smuggling investigation.

The agent, 30-year-old Nicholas Ivie, and a colleague were on patrol in the desert near Naco, about 100 miles from Tucson, when gunfire broke out shortly before 2 a.m., the Border Patrol said. The second agent was shot in the ankle and buttocks, but was reportedly in stable condition.

Authorities have not identified the agent who was wounded, nor did they say whether any weapons were seized at the site of the shooting.

At a news conference in Naco, an FBI official said the agency still was processing the crime scene and that it might take several days to complete. The FBI and the Cochise County Sheriff's Office, which is also investigating, declined to say whether investigators have recovered guns or bullet casings.

No arrests have been made, but authorities suspect that more than one person fired at the agents.

"It's been a long day for us but it's been longer for no one more than a wife whose husband is not coming home. It's been longer for two children whose father is not coming home, and that is what is going to strengthen our resolve" to find those responsible and enforce the law, said Jeffrey Self, commander of Customs and Border Protection's Arizona joint field command.

Ivie, who is married, lived in Sierra Vista with his wife and their two young daughters.

The last Border Patrol agent fatally shot on duty was Brian Terry, who died in a shootout with bandits near the border in December 2010. The Border Patrol station in Naco, where the two agents shot Tuesday were stationed, was recently named after Terry.

Terry's shooting was later linked to the government's "Fast and Furious" gun-smuggling operation, which allowed people suspected of illegally buying guns for others to walk away from gun shops with weapons, rather than be arrested.

Authorities intended to track the guns into Mexico. Two rifles found at the scene of Terry's shooting were bought by a member of the gun-smuggling ring being investigated.

Critics of the operation say any shooting along the border now will raise the specter those illegal weapons are still being used in border violence.

"There's no way to know at this point how the agent was killed, but because of Operation Fast and Furious, we'll wonder for years if the guns used in any killing along the border were part of an ill-advised gun-walking strategy," Republican Sen. Chuck Grassley said in a statement.

The Terry family said that the shooting was a "graphic reminder of the inherent dangers that threaten the safety of those who live and work near the border."

Authorities set up a checkpoint on a dirt road about seven miles southeast of Bisbee. A Border Patrol truck and another vehicle carrying two portable toilets were allowed to drive past the roadblock.

Agents at the checkpoint declined to comment and barred reporters from going further. Two helicopters from federal immigration agencies could be seen from a distance circling the area. And a fugitive-chase team could be seen staging on a roadside.

The area near the shooting is scattered with houses, trailers and ranchettes. Mesquite trees and creosote bushes dot the landscape, with a mountain range nearby to the west.

The U.S. government has put thousands of sensors along the border that, when tripped, alert dispatchers that they should send agents to a particular location.

The agents were fired upon in a rugged hilly area about five miles north of the border as they responded to an alarm that was triggered on one of the sensors, said sheriff's spokeswoman Carol Capas. It is not known whether the agents returned fire, she said.

The agents who were shot were on patrol with a third agent, who was not harmed, said George McCubbin, president of the National Border Patrol Council, a union representing about 17,000 border patrol agents.

The Border Patrol said Ivie worked for the agency since January 2008 and grew up in Provo, Utah. He worked as an emergency medical technician before joining the Border Patrol, said his brother-in-law, Todd Davis. He served a two-year mission with The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Mexico City after high school.

Ivie's desire to help others, and his love of the outdoors and riding horses led him to the Border Patrol, where he served on the horse patrol unit, Davis said.

"Nick always tried to help others. He was a very selfless man with his family, with his friends, in anything he did," Davis said. "You know the risk but you pray this day would never happen."

Twenty-six Border Patrol agents have died in the line of duty since 2002. Bisbee-area residents expressed a mix of concern and frustration about the shooting, along with recognition that the border can be a dangerous place.

The region has seen its share of violence in recent years, including the Terry shooting and the slaying of a well-known rancher in 2010. That killing was, in part, credited with pushing Arizona lawmakers to pass a law that requires officers, when they stop someone, to check the immigration status of those they suspect are in the country illegally.

"There is no security on the border ? none," said Edward L. Thomas, who owns rental properties in Bisbee.

Best Wishes!

Best Wishes!

Every year 7 billion of these items are sold. The average person receives 10 to 20 of them a year. It is a popular and accepted custom to exchange them and 9 out of 10 households in America purchase them. 80 percent of them are purchased by women and they come in singles or in boxes. What are they?

You are absolutely correct! They are greeting cards. The percentage of greeting cards sold, exchanged and received, during the course of a year, is staggering. The greeting card industry is one of the most successful industries in the USA. For any occasion or any relationship there is a card. And, for any new thought you may have, a card can be created for it.

Despite all these impressive figures there are only 2 categories of greeting cards, really. You can purchase cards for seasonal occasions or for everyday occasions. From those two categories every possible subdivision of card title can be applied.

Everyday cards

? Birthday

? Anniversary

? Wedding

? Encouragement cards

? Friendship

? Sympathy

? Get well

Seasonal Cards

? Graduation

? Christmas

? Birthday

? Mother?s day

? Father?s day

? Valentine?s day

? Holidays

Best wishes! The next time you want to send a best wishes message and make a lasting impression, send a greeting card. Greeting cards create emotional bonds and that is a good thing. If you have a greeting card idea swimming around in your head and can?t find the appropriate card, there are lots of web sites that will show you how to make your own card.

There is nothing more original than your own ?best wishes? quotes. Homemade cards can have an impact like no other, even if they are basic, simple, and hand-made. Never be afraid to put pen to colorful paper and express what is in your heart. Hand-made cards will create the really lasting emotional bonds.

And speaking of homemade cards, making hand-made greeting cards is the number 1 craft hobby. Craft magazines receive more enquiries about cards than any other subject, according to Crafts Beautiful Magazine.

E-greeting cards are sold, solely, online. E-cards are not done on paper but are created by using digital media. In some ways e-cards have it over traditional cards because they can be sent to many people at one time, they can be saved to your computer, and they can even be shown on television. Pretty soon you can expect to see digital video e-cards taking the place of standard e-cards. Greeting cards of every kind are here to stay!

(AP) ? Europe is making a monster comeback at the Ryder Cup, winning five of the first six matches.

The teams are tied at 11, but Europe needs only three more points for its fifth win in the last six Ryder Cups.

Europe won the first four matches on Sunday before Dustin Johnson finally got the Americans on board with a 3-and-2 victory over Nicolas Colsaerts, Europe's only rookie. But Justin Rose snatched a point away from Phil Mickelson with a birdie-birdie finish. After he closed out the match with a 12-footer, Mickelson applauded and said, "I'm proud of you."

There are six matches still being played, with each country leading three.

The biggest comeback in Ryder Cup history was at Brookline in 1999, when the Americans erased an identical 10-6 deficit in front of a cheering home crowd.

More than 20,000 women gather for LDS Church's General Relief Society Meeting

SALT LAKE CITY ? Bands of valiant women representing The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints across the Earth have turned their faith into action in hundreds of places, said President Henry B. Eyring on Saturday evening.

"What you have done remarkably well together is to cherish, watch over and comfort each other," said the first counselor in the LDS Church's First Presidency.

Speaking to a more than 20,000 women gathered in the Conference Center in downtown Salt Lake City for the church's General Relief Society Meeting, President Eyring emphasized the need for women to care for each other, teach each other and be taught and "sit down together with God."

"My purpose tonight is to help you feel the commendation and appreciation of God for what you have already done to help each other reach that lofty goal," he said. "And, second, it is to describe some of what is yet to come in your unified service."

In addition to President Eyring, Sister Linda K. Burton, Relief Society general president, and her counselors, Sister Carole M. Stephens and Sister Linda S. Reeves, spoke. President Thomas S. Monson and President Dieter F. Uchtdorf, second counselor in the First Presidency, also attended the meeting, which was broadcast to LDS meetinghouses across the globe.

During his remarks, President Eyring told the worldwide congregation that each Latter-day Saint woman is "in a unique place in your journey to eternal life."

"Some have years of experience and others are early in their mortal discipleship. Each is unique in her personal history and her challenges. But all of you are sisters and beloved daughters of our Heavenly Father, who knows and watches over each of you."

President Eyring spoke of a miracle that, one month ago, touched his family.

His daughter, Elizabeth, was six months pregnant and home alone with her 3-year-old daughter when she experienced a medical emergency associated with her pregnancy. Her husband was away at work and told her to call 911. But before she could place the call a knock came at the door. It was her visiting teaching companion.

"They had no appointment for that morning," he said. "Her companion had simply felt she ought to come by to see Elizabeth."

The woman drove Elizabeth to the hospital, where doctors performed surgery just in time to save Elizabeth and the baby ? which weighed 1 pound, 11 ounces.

Twenty days ago, one of his roommates was arrested for allegedly plotting an insider attack against their unit, which is partnered with NATO forces in eastern Paktia province.

Afghan soldiers and policemen ? or militants in their uniforms ? have gunned down more than 50 foreign troops so far this year, eroding the trust between coalition forces and their Afghan partners. An equal number of Afghan policemen and soldiers also died in these attacks, giving them reason as well to be suspicious of possible infiltrators within their ranks.

"It's not only foreigners. They are targeting Afghan security forces too," said the 21-year-old Hayar, who was in Kabul on leave. "Sometimes, I think what kind of situation is this that a Muslim cannot trust a Muslim ? even a brother cannot trust a brother. It's so confused. Nobody knows what's going on."

The U.S.-led coalition said a NATO service member and an international civilian contractor were killed on Saturday in the latest such insider attack. The coalition said in a statement on Sunday that Afghan soldiers were also killed or wounded, but provided no other details about the attack in eastern Afghanistan.

Insider attacks are taking a toll on the partnership, prompting the U.S. military to restrict operations with small-sized Afghan units earlier this month.

The close contact ? with coalition forces working side by side with Afghan troops as advisers, mentors and trainers ? is a key part of the U.S. strategy for putting the Afghans in the lead as the U.S. and other nations prepare to pull out their last combat troops at the end of 2014, just 27 months away.

The U.S. military also has shown increasing anger over the attacks.

"I'm mad as hell about them, to be honest with you," Gen. John Allen, the top commander of U.S. and NATO forces in Afghanistan, told CBS' "60 Minutes" in an interview scheduled to be broadcast on Sunday. "It reverberates everywhere across the United States. You know, we're willing to sacrifice a lot for this campaign, but we're not willing to be murdered for it."

So far this year, at least 52 foreign troops ? about half of them Americans ? have been killed in insider attacks. The Afghan government has not provided statistics on the number of its forces killed in insider attacks. However, U.S. military statistics obtained by The Associated Press show at least 53 members of the Afghan security forces had been killed as of the end of August.

A U.S. military official disclosed the numbers on condition of anonymity because he said it was up to Afghan officials to formally release the figures. An Afghan defense official who was shown the statistics said he had no reason to doubt their accuracy.

Overall, the statistics show that at least 135 Afghan policemen and soldiers have been killed in insider attacks since 2007. That's more than the 119 foreign service members ? mostly Americans ? killed in such attacks since then, according to NATO.

Typically, foreign troops are the main targets, but Afghan forces also have been killed by comrades angry over their collaboration with Westerners and many more get killed in the crossfire, Defense Ministry spokesman Gen. Zahir Azimi said. He said the ministry did not have a breakdown of how many had been targeted or killed in gunbattles during the attacks.

In at least one instance, an Afghan police officer with alleged ties to militants, killed 10 of his fellow officers on Aug. 11 at a checkpoint in southwestern Nimroz province. An Afghan soldier also was killed on April 25 when a fellow soldier opened fire on a U.S. service member and his translator in Kandahar province, the southern birthplace of the Taliban.

Last year, a suicide bomber in an Afghan police uniform blew himself up May 28 in Takhar province, killing two NATO service members and four Afghans, including a senior police commander. And just a week before that, four Taliban fighters wearing suicide vests under police uniforms attacked a government building in Khost province, triggering a gunbattle that left three Afghan policemen and two Afghan soldiers dead. On April 16, an Afghan soldier walked into a meeting of NATO trainers and Afghan troops in Laghman province, blew himself up, killing five U.S. troops, four Afghan soldiers and an interpreter.

"It's difficult to know an attacker from a non-attacker when everybody is wearing a uniform, Hayar said.

The attacker was one of seven people rounded up earlier this month from various units within the Afghan National Army Corps 203, Hayar said. The corps covers the eastern Afghan provinces of Paktia, Paktika, Ghazni, Wardak, Logar and Khost.

"He was together with me in my room with some of my other colleagues. He had a long beard. We didn't know anything about him. We were living together, sleeping together," said Hayar, who has been in the Afghan army for 2 1/2 years.

He said the suspected infiltrator was identified after a Taliban militant arrested in Logar told his Afghan interrogators that members of the fundamentalist Islamic movement had infiltrated the corps and were planning imminent attacks. That prompted Hayar's superiors to start questioning soldiers in various units.

Hayar said his roommate's uneasy reaction raised suspicion, and investigators found Taliban songs saved to the memory card of his cell phone. He was then detained by Afghan intelligence officials and confessed he was a member of the Taliban and planned to stage attacks.

Hayar says he assumes his former bunkmate was probably going after foreign forces, but it makes him uncomfortable nevertheless.

"It's very hard to trust anybody ? even a roommate," he said. "Whenever I'm not on duty, I lock my weapon and keep the key myself. I don't put my weapon under my pillow to sleep because maybe someone will grab it and shoot me with my own weapon."

To counter such attacks, the U.S. military earlier this year stopped training about 1,000 members of the Afghan Local Police, a controversial network of village-defense units. U.S. commanders have assigned some troops to be "guardian angels" who watch over their comrades even as they sleep. U.S. officials also recently ordered American troops to carry loaded weapons at all time, even when they are on their bases.

Then, after a string of insider attacks, Allen this month restricted operations carried out alongside with small-sized Afghan units. Coalition troops have routinely conducted patrols or manned outposts with small groups of Afghan counterparts, but Allen's directive said such operations would no longer be considered routine and required the approval of the regional commander.

For their part, Afghan authorities have detained or removed hundreds of soldiers as part of its effort to re-screen its security forces. The Ministry of Defense also released a 28-page training booklet this month that advises soldiers not to be personally offended when foreign troops do things Afghans view as deeply insulting.

The booklet urges them not to take revenge for foreign troops' social blunders, such as blowing their noses in public, stepping into a mosque with their shoes on, walking in front of a soldier who is praying or asking about their wives.

"Most of the coalition members are interested to share pictures of their families. It is not a big deal for them. If someone asks you about your family, especially the females in your family, don't think they are disrespecting you or trying to insult you," the booklet says.

"That is not the case. By asking such questions, they are trying to show that they want to learn more about you. You can very easily explain to them that nobody in Afghanistan would ask, especially about wives or females in the family."
